Mr. Alvin Kitchens, 51, of Ellaville, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Bro. Stephen Fripp and Mr. Robbie Underwood officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd C. Kitchens, Sammy Lee, James Storey, Jr., Chris Gattis, Jason West and Shane Tondee.
Mr. Kitchens was born January 19, 1972, in Americus, Georgia to Clifton “Butch”, Jr. and Edwina Gattis Kitchens. He worked as a certified welder for many years at Old Biscayne in Americus before his retirement. Mr. Kitchens was a people person and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a witness for Christ by the way he treated people. Mr. Kitchens enjoyed fishing and hunting and watching old westerns. He loved his sons, family and friends. Anytime he was able he and a friend would ramble through junkyards and see what interesting things they could find. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clifton G., Sr. and Marie Kitchens and his maternal grandparents, Alvin and Florrie Gattis.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Oglesby Kitchens of Statesboro, GA and their two sons, Shawn T. Kitchens and his wife, Heather of Cumming, GA and Alvin C. Kitchens of Statesboro, GA; mother and father, Clifton “Butch”, Jr. and Edwina Gattis Kitchens; a brother, Todd Kitchens of Ellaville, GA; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org, the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or the charity of your choice.
