Anna "Nan" Jean Bogardus

Anna “Nan” Jean Bogardus, 66, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on May 10, 2022, at her residence. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Union United Methodist Church at 10:30AM.

Ms. Bogardus was born in Tokyo, Japan on June 19, 1955, to Allan L. and Hilda Martin Bogardus. She was employed as a medical transcriptionist with the John B. Amos Cancer Center. Nan loved her flowers, hummingbirds, dragonflies and anything pertaining to nature and being outside. She was an “amateur archaeologist” and loved hunting Indian artifacts and arrowheads. Quite often she would venture out shortly after a heavy rain to see what washed up. Quilting and sewing were other passions of hers, often gifting her handiwork to friends and loved ones.

Nan was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Buena Vista where she enjoyed being an active member of the adult Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sheila Smith.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gabriel and Danielle Hancock of Bellingham, WA; by a brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Kathy Bogardus; and by a grandchild, Alexander Glenn; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Perry Wellness Center, 302 E. Furlow St., Americus, GA 31709.
