Mrs. Annie L. Acton, 85, of Phenix City, AL, passed away at her residence Saturday, September 02, 2017.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Tazewell Cemetery with Rev. Dean Knipe officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 5-8pm.

Mrs. Acton was born October 10, 1931, in Spartanburg County, SC, to William Samuel and Marion M. Groce Cook.  She held a dual degree in Nursing and Music and worked as a nurse for almost 30 years. Mrs. Dukes was Baptist by faith.  She enjoyed crochet and sewing and made outfits for her children when they were younger. Mrs. Dukes also loved the fish in the aquarium in her room, especially the bright orange ones.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Joel Richard Acton and Curtis Dukes and by two brothers.

She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Joann Brazier, Richard Acton, Sarah Barrett, Alice Heckert, Marion Hauck, Ellen Harbuck, and Amanda Moore. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren also survive.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Rd., Buena Vista, GA is in charge of arrangements.
