Asbend Coleman Moore

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. (AC) Asbend Coleman Moore, Jr. , age 91, of Greenwood, SC died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, GA.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 19, 11:00AM at Coronaca Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC with Rev. Todd Polatty and Rev. Thomas Moon officiating.  Family will greet friends after the memorial service.

      Mr. Moore was born June 16, 1923 in Elberton, GA, the son of Asbend Coleman Moore and Katie Sumter Moore. He was a landscape contractor and had served in the Navy. Mr. Moore was an avid gardener, he was a  member of Coronaca Baptist Church; a member of the Lions Club and a Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts. 

      In additional to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Zurlinden Moore, one daughter, Shari Ryan and 5 brothers and 5 sisters.  Survivors include one son, Larry D. Moore (Debra Twombly) of Astoria, Oregon; one daughter Janet Mull (Dan) of Salem, Oregon. He lived with his beloved niece and best friend, Louise Raborn, for the past 6 years.   Mr. Moore is also survived by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
