Mr. Benny David “Fathead” Dominy, 75, of Americus, passed away after a brief illness on July 23, 2025. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, 975 Felder St., Americus at 4:00PM with Rev. Tim Sizemore and Rev. Damon Fountain officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 3:00 PM until service time.
Mr. Dominy was born January 28, 1950, to Cletus and Lois Scoggins Dominy in Seville, GA. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Dominy loved spending time outdoors, fishing, gardening and especially the month of November when he and his wife, Sanora spent the entire month camping in Florence Marina State Park. He worked with the Georgia Department of Agriculture as an Inspector where he retired after almost 30 years of service. His selfless acts even followed his death, as he donated his corneas to help others in need. He loved spending time with his family, but especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, J.E. Dominy, Boyce Dominy, Tom Dominy, and Don Dominy; and three sisters, Laverne White, Barbara Gibbs, and Janise Connor.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sanora Dominy of Americus; three children, Tonya Sizemore and her husband, Tim of Macon, GA, Sheila Hewitt of Ellaville, GA, and Greg Dominy and his wife, Sharon of Ellaville, GA; a brother, Buck Dominy and his wife, Mary K. of Fitzgerald, GA; a sister, Anita Hancock and her husband, James of Fitzgerald, GA; seven grandchildren, Libby Kelly (Taylor), Leah Skinner (Jutt), Logan Scott (Ethan), Mason Apperson (Makayla), Colby Hewitt (Keltsy), Laine Crawford (Cole), and Tate Dominy; six great-grandchildren, Parker Kelly, Grant Kelly, Denver Skinner, Marlee Apperson, Maverick Apperson, and Ry Ry Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
