Ellaville, GA --- Mrs. Bessie Mae Bivins Yarbrough, age 73, of Ellaville, died Friday afternoon, February 18, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Bro. Troy Fripp, Rev. Bryan Bentley and Rev. Dean Long will officiate.
Mrs. Yarbrough was born November 7, 1937 in Sumter County, GA, the daughter of Beulah Lennie Avery Bivins and William McKinley Bivins. She was a seamstress having worked at Manhattan Shirt Factory and Spilene of Ellaville. Mrs. Yarbrough was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Cook and husband Danny of Ellaville, Ruby Sexton and husband Toby of Ellaville; one son, Rufus (Pete) G. Yarbrough, Jr. and wife Vicki of Ellaville; one son in law, Donnie Hodge of Ellaville; one brother, Stanley Bivins of Ellaville; one sister, Susie Price of Americus, GA; and one sister in law, Pat Bivins of Americus, GA. Mrs. Yarbrough is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Cecil Albritton, Jr. and wife Lisa, Robbie Albritton and wife Pam, Danny Cook IV, Michael Bedford, Jr., Lynnie Guzman and husband Miguel, Krystle Bailey, Cody Sexton, Camryn Sexton, Christie Hughes and husband Jonathan, Rufus (Pete) G. Yarbrough III, Joy Bentley and husband Bryan, Miranda Long and husband Dean, C J Yarbrough and wife Deana, Mary Taylor and husband, Mathew. Also surviving are sixteen great grandchildren, Robert Albritton, Lauran Albritton, Cecil Albritton III, Dakota Albritton, Daniel Carter Cook, Marianna Guzman, Lindsey Long, Jacob Long, Jarrett Long, Bessie McPhail, Lydia Bentley, Abby Bentley, Maggie Taylor, Sheila Yarbrough, Payton Hughes, Cameron Hughes, many nieces and nephews and family friend Paul Forsyth. Mrs. Yarbrough was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Rufus G. Yarbrough, Sr. and a daughter, Ira Hodge.
Active pallbearers will include Roger Bivins, Walter Bivins, Stephen Fripp, Ken Price, Cecil Albritton, Jr. and Lancy Fripp. Honorary pallbearers will include Eula Clemmons, Lamar Montgomery, Shirley Montgomery, Ronnie Stuckey, Cecil Albritton and Debbie Chapman.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
