Bobby Derrell Newton

Bobby Derrell Newton, 63, of Box Springs, passed away suddenly on March 31, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at New Providence Baptist Church with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA.   

Mr. Newton was born October 13, 1960 in Columbus, GA to the late Henry A. and Faye Cherry Newton.  He was most recently employed with Chattahoochee County Water Department.  Mr. Newton was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.  He enjoyed gardening, antiques and travelling. He was also a member of The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.  Mr. Newton loved all animals, but especially his dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Newton of Buena Vista; a daughter, Sheena Newton of Box Springs; a step-son, Todd Hudson of Buena Vista; a brother, Stanley Newton and a sister, Sherree Hatcher, both of Box Springs; three grandchildren, Mikayla Nolan, Cortney Nolan and Tucker Nolan; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to New Providence Baptist Church.

Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
