Mr. Howerton was born May 6, 1943, in Middleboro, KY, to John and Dortha Treadway Howerton. He served honorably in the United States Army where he was a diesel mechanic. Mr. Howerton was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing. He was an all-around good man with a big heart and was excellent at storytelling. A wonderful husband to his wife, Joyce, he loved his family and his grandchildren were his heart. He retired from Ford Motor Company. Mr. Howerton was your typical grumpy old man who “didn’t like dogs” but had a strong bond with his grandson’s dog, Buddy. He always enjoyed lake views and sunsets. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Howerton, his step-daughter, Ann Tennant and his siblings.

He is survived by a son, Richard Howerton; by a daughter, Cathy Howerton; by three stepsons, Allan Tennant, Steven Tennant and James Tennant; by a brother, Earl Howerton; by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by all of his friends and extended family.
