Mr. Charles Wayne Heath, 86, of Ellaville, GA, was reunited with his wife Connie after 26 years in heaven on Sunday, April 5, 2026. He was known by many names: Wayne, Buddy, Buddy Red, Daddy, Gramps, and he answered to each one of them with pride. An avid life-long hunter and fisherman, he spent decades fishing Florida and hunting Georgia to Colorado with some of the finest friends a man could ask for. His love for hunting and fishing was second only to his love for his family and his yorkie companion, Rocky. He will be greatly missed.
Wayne was born April 16, 1939, to Charles and Pearl Johnson Heath, the third of five children. In 1961, he married Connie Lee Turner of Americus and they had four children. Wayne farmed until 1981, when he and his brother and nephew started Heath & West Logging and H & H Trucking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all four siblings: Faye Heath West, Frances Heath Hunter, Samuel Heath, and Ronnie Heath as well as his beloved wife of 38 years, Connie Lee Turner Heath, an unnamed son, and a daughter, Dawn Heath Pountious.
He leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Millette Holcombe (Joe) of Dawsonville, GA, and Virginia Lee Ford (David) of Ellaville, GA; eight grandchildren – Kristina Smith, Kim Ferguson, James Ferguson, Lesli Zimmerman (Andrew), Charla Ayers (Caleb), Brian Holcombe, Cameron Barley (Madison), and Richard Vaughn as well as eight great-grandchildren – Ansley, Krisa, Elijah, Kaisen, Brianna, Silas, Ezra, and Harper.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Way-Watson Funeral home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 2:00PM with burial to follow in Ellaville City Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Chapman and Rev. Hugh Harbort officiating. The family will greet friends Monday, April 6, 2026, from 6:00-8:00pm. Serving as pallbearers will be James Ferguson, Cameron Barley, Richard Vaughn, Caleb Ayers, Andrew Zimmerman, Bobby Adams, and James Zerban
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ellaville, GA.
Way-Watson Funeral Home of Ellaville has been entrusted with these arrangements.
