Obituary

Mr. Charlie L. “C. L.” Parker, 85, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Bro. C. J. Yarbrough, Brad Parker, and Rev. Jim Cox officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to service time beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Ricky Singleton, Ken Singleton, Lucas Singleton, Beau Singleton, Jack Simmons, and Joe Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Mr. Parker was born April 12, 1940, in Cusseta, GA, to James Louis and Charlie Ree Gallops Parker. He was a devoted member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 30 years. Mr. Parker’s greatest joys were hunting and fishing. He loved training bird dogs and taking them on hunts. An avid football fan, he enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs or any football game he could catch. Mr. Parker loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Parker, by a daughter, Wanda P. Jernigan, and by four sisters, Eleanor Parker, Elizabeth Phillips, Irmalene Palmer, and Margaret Monasmith.

He is survived by a son, Allen Parker; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Daniel Hagan, all of Buena Vista, GA; a son-in-law, Todd Jernigan; by a brother, Jim Henry and Sue Parker; three grandchildren, Celeste and Reuben Widner, Deana and C. J. Yarbrough, and Brian and Carly Hagan and twelve great-grandchildren, Emilee Cribbs, Dakota Cribbs, Shelia Yarbrough, Colin Hagan, Claude Yarbrough, Jr., Constance Hagan, Reuben Widner, Jr., Julianna Yarbrough, Kane Hagan, Ira Yarbrough, Eve Widner, and Parker Yarbrough. Numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends also survive.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
