Dorothy Davis

Dorothy Davis, 84, of Americus, GA, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her residence.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Chris Hess officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00-1:30PM prior to the service.

Ms. Davis was born May 14, 1928, in Marion County, GA to Jack and Anna Welch Carter. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Americus. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Davis, a brother Cranford Carter, 3 sisters, Mamie Carden, Alma Jordan, and Nannie Clair Crawley, a niece, Patsy Crawley Miller, and her 16 year old companion, a chihuahua named Skeeter.

She is survived by a brother, Linton S. Carter of Apopka, FL; three nieces, Kathleen Lovelace, Louise Harbuck, and Janice Crawley Barfield, and two nephews, Roland Jordan and Dwayne Carter.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of these arrangements.
