ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Edgar G. Brown, age 82, of Ellaville, GA died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, GA. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home, 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 20, 2010 with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA. Bro. Troy Fripp will officiate.
Mr. Brown was born July 12, 1928 in Macon County, GA, the son of Bertha Lee Philmon Brown and A. G. Brown. He was a retired civil service worker from the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base. Prior to his employment with the Marine base, Mr. Brown was a mechanic, having worked at Studebaker, Buick and Chevrolet dealerships. He also had served in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Brown was of the Baptist faith having been baptized at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Albany, GA.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Alice Sollers Brown, one daughter and son in law, Angela and Joe Bird of Decorah, Iowa; two sons and daughter in law, Greg and Tammy Brown of Ellaville, GA, and Darrell Brown Courson of Americus, GA. Six grandchildren, Conrad Schulte, Elaine Schulte, Alicia Schulte, Faith Brown, Joshua Brown, Dakota Bird and one great grandchild, Aden Schulte also survive. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Judy Brown and Kay Brown Courson.
Active pallbearers will be David Jones, Neil Mooney, Craig Dickerson, Emory Hill, Cecil Shutters and Mark Shutters.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 19, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.
