Elton (Butch) Gleaton

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Elton B. (Butch) Gleaton, Jr., age 66, of 6718 Concord Road, died Friday afternoon, July 9, 2009 at his residence. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Allen Scott, Rev. Bryan Bentley and Bro. Troy Fripp will officiate.
Mr. Gleaton was born January 9, 1943 in Dougherty County, GA, the son of Dyxie Standridge Gleaton Holt and Elton Gleaton, Sr. He retired from the CSX Railroad and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Gleaton was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
Mr. Gleaton is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lee Gleaton; two daughters and sons in law, Tammy and Jeff Miles of Fitzgerald, GA, Patty Lee and Jeffery Dobbins of Fitzgerald, GA; one son and daughter in law, Bert and Wendy Gleaton of McDonough, GA; three sisters and brothers in law, Bootsie and Charlie Sorrells of Ellaville, Nona and Vick Siley of Kansas City, Mo, and Diana and Jim Byington of Hawkinsville, GA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Jeremy Miles, Erin Miles, Kade Poole, Matthew Miles, Laura Kate Gleaton and Blake Gleaton.
Pallbearers will include Jeremy Miles, Kade Poole, Joshua Smith, Brian Belcher, Jamie Taylor and Ken Franks. Honorary pallbearers will include all active and inactive deacons of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 11 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
