Ernest Merrell Bailey

Mr. Ernest Merrell Bailey, 79, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church, Hwy 271 with Rev. Chris Wooden officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. 

            Mr. Bailey was born October 1, 1938 in Honoraville, Alabama to the late Ernest P. Bailey and Lou Ellen Register Bailey. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and his dogs. 

            Survivors include his wife, Esther Gwendolyn Bailey of Ellaville; a son, Darrell and Jane Bailey of Americus; two daughters, Donna and Sanjeev Kumar of Austin, TX and Paula and Jamie Roberson of Tifton, GA; a brother, Gerald and Laura Bailey of Jonesboro, GA; a sister, Ernestine and Edgar Tidd of Ellaville; eight grandchildren, Tyler Bailey, Alex Bailey, Cole Bailey, Haley Roberson, Bryce Roberson, Kacey Roberson, Courtney Aldaco (Jonathan) and Kirsten Kumar; and several nieces and nephews.
