Evelyn Locks

Evelyn  Williams Locks, 81, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Magnolia Manor of Marion County in Buena Vista, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in the Chapel of Watson-Tante Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Akin officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service time beginning at 11:00am.  Burial will follow the service at Buena Vista City Cemetery on Oliver Street.

Mrs. Locks was born in Schley County, Georgia, to Auzzie and Arlene Warren Williams on August 15, 1934. After her birth, her mother transitioned and Evelyn was nurtured and guided in growth by her grandparents, Rev. John Harry and Minnie L. Williams. She was introduced and received Christ as her personal Savior under their tutor liege. Evelyn was educated in the Marion County School System. As a mature young lady, she moved to Atlanta and worked at Snow White Laundry and other positions until she decided to fulfill her dream of living in San Francisco, California in the late 50’s. While there, she found her permanent career position with the United States Postal Service and served faithfully until retiring in 1992. She joined the Eagles Club where she is a lifetime member and other organizations in California. Evelyn returned to Georgia with her aunt, Annie Craver, and decided to live in Buena Vista, Georgia. After living here for several months, she joined her beloved Buena Vista United Methodist Church where she was gleefully received, greatly loved and cherished by all. Her love for singing influenced her to join the choir and share her joy of music with all.

Evelyn enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to share her life to all she came in contact. Her natural forte was to cook, what she called “Good Stuff” combined with her passion for entertaining and sharing her wit and knowledge made a moment in time unforgettable.

She also loved to travel with her beloved “Bill”; as a team, dancing was the signature of their many cruise adventures and impromptu excursions.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her humble lifestyle and memory Mr. Raphael Williams, brother; Mrs. Netarcia Glover, sister, Mrs. Lillie B. Eberhardt, aunt; Mr. Phillip and Carrie Ruth Swan and Tony Statham; Jeralene and Darreck Eberhardt; nieces, nephews, cousins, Buena Vista Senior Citizens Community Lunch Family and her Buena Vista United Methodist Church family.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
