Horace Lonnie Jones

Lonnie Jones passed away on April 23, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Lonnie was born July 1, 1952 in Butler, Georgia as the eldest son to Felton and Joyce Jones. He graduated from Schley County High school in 1970 and was a proud resident of Ellaville.
Lonnie worked at King’s Custom Builders throughout adulthood, spent many years refinishing furniture, and lended his expertise in cabinetry to ProMod after retirement. On August 30, 1974, Lonnie married Sarah Kelley and so began nearly 50 years of driving each other crazy. The only thing Lonnie loved more than Sarah was Panama City Beach. Whether it was the old days of sitting on the balcony of the Port of Call smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee, or his more recent obsession of watching the live stream beach cameras - Lonnie’s heart belonged to the beach. Lonnie was a man of many interests: Ellaville or PCB history, metal detecting, fishing, sci-fi, reading, and of course - eating. He was always down for a drive to Smiley’s Flea Market, to Michelle’s for some seafood, or just wherever he and Sarah decided to explore for the weekend.
Along with Sarah, Lonnie is survived by his siblings, his daughters Nikki (Ron) Jones, Kelly (Jonathan) Gibson, and his favorite pain in the butts - Makenzzie Jones, Levi Jones, Ian Gibson, Isaac Gibson, and Isla Gibson.
Lonnie didn’t want “no damn funeral”, so the family invites you to join them on Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 AM for a short memorial service followed by visitation at Way-Watson Funeral Home. The family will be wearing some of Lonnie’s favorite Hawaiian shirts, so feel free to don your tropical best as we say goodbye to our favorite grump in style
