Jocelyn Jo Sundby

Mrs. Jocelyn Jo Sundby, 54, of Buena Vista, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 31, 2026, at her residence. A private graveside service will be held at the Sundby Farm. Bro. C. J. Yarbrough will officiate the service.

Mrs. Sundby was born November 18, 1971, in Mondovi, WI, to James and Marge Sie Van Vleet. She was a state level athlete in high-school, and in adulthood, worked professionally for 20 years training others towards their fitness goals. She had a beautiful spirit and always had a smile for those she loved, and strangers alike. Every trip to the grocery store was an opportunity to help someone who looked lost, to find something they were looking for. It was commonplace for her to make someone's day with a simple compliment and her beautiful smile. She loved making people feel good about themselves. She was a great listener, and her generosity was well known by those she loved. If she became aware of a need someone had, she made it her mission to help. To meet her, was to love her, and whether it was her quick witted sense of humor or her self deprecating stories that made everyone laugh, she was relatable, and grounded, and that's what made her so easy to love. She was always concerned about everyone else before herself. She was married to her high-school sweetheart, Eric, for 37 years and selflessly took care of him, her 3 boys, and 4 grandchildren. They were her life, and she was the center of their world. She loved baking and was affectionately known as "Cookie Grandma", by her grandchildren. She also loved her two black labs, Dixie and Maggie, and stray beagles that showed up at the farm, that she instantly fell in love with, Chloe and Bailey. The love was mutual because they followed her everywhere she went. She was an angel on earth who finally got her wings. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. The positive impact she had on so many lives will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marge Van Vleet. Survivors include her husband, Eric Sundby of Buena Vista, GA; her father, James Van Vleet; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eric Sundby, II (Brooke), Dedric Sundby (Rachael), and Alec Sundby (Katie); two brothers, Jeff Bauer (Laurie) and Travis (Mandie) Van Vleet; and four grandchildren, Eric "Tripp" Sundby, III, Sadie Sundby, Liam Sundby, and Elena Sundby.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Draneville Union Church, 190 Hwy 30, Buena Vista, GA, United States, 31803, that Jocelyn loved so much.
