John Christopher “Chris” Derington, 52, of Ellaville, GA, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, May 11, 2026. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Stillwater Chapel in Ideal, GA at 1:00 PM with Rev. Roy Peterson officiating. 

Mr. Derington was born on September 18, 1973, to Marvin and Virginia Derington in Lake City, FL. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired as a truck driver after many years. Mr. Derington loved to hunt, fish, ride dirt bikes and racing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Derington, two nieces Annie Derington and Shelby Bridges, and an uncle, Jimmy Flint.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary “Susanne” Daniels Derington of Ellaville, GA; two daughters, Britany and Zack Causey of Butler, GA and Aliyah and Shay Barrett of Worthington Springs, FL; and a son, CJ Derington of Ellaville, GA; seven grandchildren, Braylin Causey, Zadie Causey, Brycen Causey, Zayden Causey, Bailey Causey, Ember Barrett and Salem Barrett; brothers and sisters, Jeffrey & Christie Derington of Rupert, GA, Scott Derington of Rupert, GA, Jennie Derington of Mauk, GA and Bonnie Derington of Ellaville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
