John Henry Harris

Mr. John Henry Harris, (Johnnie) 80, of Ellaville, GA passed away on September 12, 2018 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, GA.  A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in the Chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA at 2:00 with Rev. Joel Smith officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 12:00 until service time.

            Mr. Harris was born in Bulloch County, GA on January 10, 1938 to Lacy Harris and Rosa Harris.  He was the youngest of five children.  He migrated north and met his wife, Mary Morris.  He raised three girls and helped in raising eight grandchildren. Mr. Harris loved to travel and has lived in Philadelphia, PA, where he worked for Mr. Sam’s Construction Co.; in Camden, NJ where he worked for Campbell Soup Co. and later retired from Camden Co. Dept of Public Works.  He then lived in Millville, NJ, Culpepper, VA, and Ellaville, Ga., Magnolia Manor of Americus, GA, Marion County and Pine Manor in Hawkinsville were blessed to have Mr. Harris with them for a while.  He   loved women and all people.

      Survivors include one son, Dooly Harris of North Philadelphia, PA, three daughters, Emily Darcel Burns (Curtis) of Hope Mills, NC, Darlene Anderson of Ellaville, GA, and Joann Harris Irving (George) of Clinton, Maryland; ten grandchildren, Willie T. Simmons, III, Tyesha Anderson, Stormi Burns Covington, Raynese Burns, Joylece (Joy) Francine Harris, Jocelyne Darcel Harris, Jacinta Naomi Wallace, Jamar John Harris, Johan Vander Harris, and Jeremiah George Harris and two great grandchildren.  Mr. Harris was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
