John Wendell Lewis

John Wendell Lewis, 69, of Notasulga, AL, passed away on May 1, 2025, at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, GA. Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Ashland, AL, 2807 Pleasant Hill Rd Ashland, Alabama 36251 on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM Central Time. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 5:00-7:00PM and again on Monday at 1:00PM in the church until service time.

Mr. Lewis was born July 19, 1955, in Ashland, AL to John David and Stellar Elizabeth Hayes Lewis. He was a hardworking man, having worked with his father and his brother in their family logging business, Lewis Wood. He also worked for Concrete Metal Forms throughout the southeast, operating heavy equipment. Mr. Lewis had a very giving soul, often times buying produce and giving to his senior citizen friends and family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and always had a joke to tell. Never having children of his own, he was a mother hen to his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Wayne Lewis and a nephew, John Wayne Lewis.

Survivors include his sisters, Myrtle Marie Underwood, Nita Faye Denson (Mitch), Judy Darleen Ingram (Brian); a sister-in-law, Vickie Ann Lewis; six nephews, eight nieces, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
