Johnny was born in the Doyle community of Marion County, GA, on July 10, 1943, to Bonnie Kennedy and Ernest Heath. He lived in Americus for many years and was a lineman with Sumter EMC for 52 years until his retirement in 2012. Sumter EMC was the only place he ever worked and he loved working there. He always said, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” He will be remembered by many as the person who went on storm trips for Sumter EMC all over the U.S. and he loved “putting consumer’s lights back on.” Johnny will also be remembered for his love for his Lord, telling everyone that he met, “How good God is” and “Have a blessed day.” Johnny is Just Right now, because he is with his Lord. Johnny loved to plant and watch things grow. He had beautiful roses, which he tended faithfully and always had a bountiful vegetable garden. Johnny was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Davis Heath.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Dunlap Southwell Heath of Americus & Preston; his children, Teresa Carver & Jack and Johnny Chris Heath, Jr. and Mark; granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Wright and Chandler, a great-grandson, Austin Shiloh Wright and a great-granddaughter, due in May, all of Perry, GA; sisters-in-law, Lou Heath of Preston, GA, Charlotte Davis Greene of Ellaville, GA and Eleanor Davis of Albany, GA; a brother-in-law, Hayward Davis of Americus, GA; and many loving nieces and nephews; He is also survived by bonus children, Tammy S. Crumbley and her husband Dean, and Angie Bennett and her husband Paul, and grandchildren, Joseph Crumbley, Leigh Crumbley, Tori Batts, and Emily Kauffman.
