Joyce Howerton

Joyce E. Howerton, age 62, of Box Springs, GA, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at her residence.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Oakland Church of God with Reverend John Saynes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 pm.

Mrs. Howerton was born January 2, 1950, in Howell, Michigan, to Gerald and Evelyn Holcomb Tomlin. She was Methodist by faith and a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She had been employed with Social Services in Michigan before moving to Box Springs 3 years ago. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Tennant, and a sister, Jone Kopke.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Charles Ray Howerton of Box Springs, GA; by three sons, Allan & Colleen Tennant of Saginaw, Michigan, Steven & Karen Tennant of Midland, GA, and Jim Tennant of Mauk, GA; by two step children, Richard & Cathy Howerton and Cathy Howerton, both of Michigan; by two brothers, Robert and Patricia Tomlin of Michigan and Eugene and Judy Tomlin of Arkansas; by two sisters, Carole and Duane Gilboe of Michigan and Karen and Denis Rees of Michigan. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, is in charge of these arrangements.
