Kip Dale
McLeod
Nov 18, 1958 — Sep 3, 2026
Mauk, GA
Sunday
Draneville Union Church
Starts at 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
It is with great sadness we announce Kip Dale McLeod passed away on September 3, 2026, at his home while working on the land he loved. A celebration of his life will be held at Draneville Union Church on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 3:00PM. There will also be a celebration held in Valdosta at Central Avenue Church of Christ on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:30AM.
Kip was a son, brother, husband, father and peepaw as well as a friend, coach, and teacher to many. He always valued teaching and education in any form. You could always find him making Julie coffee in the morning and writing in his bible while reading a daily devotional. He always told us that if hunting or fishing didn’t fix it, then the whiskey would.
He was born November 18, 1958, in Lowndes County to the late Julian McLeod and Betty Jo Bell. He spent most of his life in Valdosta before moving to Mauk, GA for retirement. After graduating from Lowndes High School he attended college at David Lipscomb and Valdosta State College where he won National Championships in baseball at both. Following this he spent most of his time as an educator and coach at many levels throughout the School System in Lowndes, Hamilton, and Cook; Coastal Plains Night-school, Marion County, and Valdosta State College.
He was survived by his wife Julie of 32 beautiful crazy years; three children, Kristin, Greyson (Trinity), and Rett (Rebekah); he also loved his two grandchildren, Olivia and Maddox; his mother, Betty Jo Bell; his sister, Debbie and Jimmy Murphy; he was also a cherished brother-in-law and outlaw to Joy and Jim Gainer, Henry and Leslie Jones, and Bob and Tracy Jones; and deeply cared for by numerous nephews and nieces. He is proceeded in death by his father Julian Wallace McLeod and brother Gregory Alan McLeod.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Draneville Union Church, 2215 GA Hwy 41 South, Buena Vista, GA 31803.
