Obituary

Larry Louis Deal, 79, of Buena Vista passed away at his home on November 3, 2026.

He was born on August 12, 1947, in Columbus GA to the late RT & Winifred Shockey Deal. After graduating from Jordan High School, Larry was drafted into the Army, where he served in Vietnam as a machinist. Upon discharge from the Army, he earned a degree in tool & die from Columbus Technical College. After working in that field for a few years, he went to work for the Department of Natural Resources as a game warden. He transferred to serve Marion County from 1974 until he retired in 1998. Larry & Mildred married during that time and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church, as well as his local Lion's Club, which he enjoyed for many years. He was an excellent cook and often helped with church events, Fall Festivals and smoking BBQ for the annual Relay for Life walk. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Terry, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley D. Willoughby (Mike) and Clara D. Manning (Matt), and nephew Barry Deal.

He is survived by his wife Mildred, his daughter Leah Rowland, grandchildren Andi & Austin Rowland and 2 "adopted" grandchildren, Trett & Hailee Bullard. Other survivors include his brothers Cary (Judy), Jerry (Linda) and Gary (Mary), several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends he considered family as well. Pallbearers are Joey Riles, Jesse Riles, Robbie McCorkle, Branndon Turner, Bryan Bullard & Paul Baublitz.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 8th at 2:30pm at New Providence Baptist Church (Sanctuary) with Graveside Services following at 3:30pm in the church cemetery.
