ELLAVILLE, GA—LTC (Ret.) Harry William “Billy” Hite, USMC age 88 of Ellaville, GA died, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, GA.  Funeral services will be held at 12:30PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at Martha McDonald Moore Memorial Chapel at Magnolia Manor in Americus with burial to follow at 2:00PM in Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors.  Rev. Joy Wilson will officiate.

     LTC Hite was born July 4, 1926 in Colquitt, GA the son of Howard Leslie Hite and Frances Ethel Hite.  He had retired from the United States Marine Corps where he had received numerous awards and campaign medals; the highest award was the Legion of Merit.  LTC Hite served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War.  Following his retirement from the Marine Corps in 1969, he enjoyed organic gardening, fishing and being on his tractor. He had lived in Ellaville for nearly 40 years.

     Survivors include his wife, Mildred Earlene Holloway Hite; two daughters, Linda Susan Hite of Ellaville, Janet Kathryn Pearce and husband Stephen of Fayetteville, GA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kathryn Ann Williams and husband Ted, Susan Elizabeth Pearce and Joseph William Hite Pearce.

     Visitation will be held at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Road, PMB 359, Macon, GA 31210. 

     Watson-Giddens Funeral Home of Ellaville, GA is in charge of arrangements.
