Mary Elizabeth Rooks

ELLAVILLE, GA— Miss Mary Elizabeth Rooks, 92, of Americus, GA died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Magnolia Manor Retirement Center.  Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral home on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mark Kinservik officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ellaville Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at 2:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

            Miss Rooks was born August 25, 1925 to the late John H. and Annie Belle Rooks in Quitman County, GA.  She was a retired nurse anesthetist from Birmingham, AL.  She retired in 1992 and moved to the LaCrosse community in Schley County, GA.  For the last 10 years she was a resident of the Magnolia Manor Retirement Center in Americus, GA.  Miss Rooks was a member of County Line United Methodist Church.

            Survivors include  her brother, John N. Rooks (Jean); nieces and nephews, Judy S. Bolin (Chuck), Cheryl G. Jones (Earl), Nancy R. Waldrop, Pat R. McDow (James), Jane R. Taylor, Louise R. Foxx, Timothy Rooks, Frank Rooks (Donna), John Rooks (Doris), Henry Rooks (Susie), Danny Rooks (Peggy), Carl Rooks (Lisa), Bernard Greene, Earl Greene (Brenda), Hugh Greene, and Warren Greene.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were siblings, Biceye R. Greene Niblett, Louise R. Stark, Evelyn R. Smith, Alice R. Hutchins, Timothy Rooks, Charles M. Rooks, J. W. Rooks and nephew, Victor Stark.

            Active pallbearers will be Frank Rooks, Henry Rooks, Danny Rooks, Carl Rooks, Bernard Greene, and Warren Greene.

     Watson-Giddens Funeral Home of Ellaville, GA is in charge of arrangements.
