Mrs. Mary Alice Guilfoyle, 87, of Ellaville, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Guilfoyle was born in Disputanta, KY, on October 2, 1938, to Harvey Clinton and Fairie Marie McHone Thomas. She enjoyed painting, watching birds and sunsets, and playing the harmonica. Mrs. Guilfoyle made sure her children were warm, secure, and comforted. She loved her family very much. A survivor and a warrior, she was strong willed and tough. She went through her trials and tribulations effortlessly. She was beautiful inside and out and the apple of her girls’ eyes. Mrs. Guilfoyle loved to make others feel good about themselves and often complimented strangers. She was curious about the world around her and always had questions about how things worked. Mrs. Guilfoyle loved her two dogs, Candy and Bailey. A jokester, you could never tell if she was truly serious or not. She enjoyed singing in the car, especially “Wagon Wheel” and “Amazing Grace.” Mrs. Guilfoyle was quick to remind her family, “When red birds appear, loved ones are near.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Tackett, a daughter, Deborah Tackett, and several siblings.
She is survived by her two daughters, Terrie Barnett and Susan Barnett; by a son, Rusty Jump; grandchildren, Devin, Amber, Terra, Carrie, Michelle, Sherrie, Chris, and Justin; several great-grandchildren and several siblings.
Memorials may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation in her memory.
Way-Watson Funeral Home of Ellaville has been entrusted with these arrangements.
