Michael "Mike" Anthony Cates

Mr. Michael “Mike” Anthony Cates, 61, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Magnolia Manor of Marion County, in Buena Vista, GA.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. C.J. Yarbrough and Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM until service time.

            Mike was born December 1, 1956 in Atlanta, GA to the late John Isaac Cates and Charlotte Ann Stephens Myrick. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and loved singing hymns there, before his illness.  Mike loved to make people smile and never complained about anything.  He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, General Wesley Myrick and two sisters, Donna Bryson and Laurie Wright.

            Survivors include his brother, Gary Cates and his wife, Boon of San Antonio, TX and his sister, Toni Christian and her husband, Wallace of Ellaville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
