Mildred Dobbs

ELLAVILLE, GA-Mrs. Mildred Usry Dobbs, 85, of Ellaville, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Ellaville Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery. Rev. Joel Smith will officiate.  The family will greet friends at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. 

     Mrs. Dobbs was born on January 29, 1932 to JLB Usry Jr. and Thelma Willis Usry in Schley County, GA.  She had worked with the Schley County Senior Center.  Mrs. Dobbs loved reading, cooking, gardening, and word puzzles.  She especially loved her family and her church.  Mrs. Dobbs was a member of Ellaville Baptist Church where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School class, the WMU and the JOY Club.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. 

     Survivors include one daughter, Janet Perguson of Duluth, GA; one brother, Bobby Usry and wife Laverne of Ellaville; three sisters, Jean Hancock of Americus, Brenda Todd and husband Dan of Ellaville, GA, Katherine Thomas of Americus, GA.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jason Dobbs and wife Haley, Cody Dobbs and wife Mollie, Nick Smith and wife, Shelby and five great grandchildren.  Mrs. Dobbs was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dobbs, a son, Ronnie Dobbs, and a daughter, Gail Smith.

     Pallbearers will include Shane Allegood, Davis English, Doug Jamieson, Lee Jamieson, Jason Dobbs and Cody Dobbs.

     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ellaville Baptist Church, P. O. Box 325, Ellaville, GA  31806.
