MSG (Ret.) Bobby Ray Jones, Sr., 68, of Box Springs, GA, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Ft. Perry Baptist Church with Rev. Lorne Whitley officiating.

Mr. Jones was born in Beaufort County, NC, to Hugh Lester and Lishie Ree Cox Jones. He served honorably in the United States Army for twenty years. Mr. Jones was a highly decorated soldier and was given many honors and awards during his military career. During his Army service, he was deployed to Germany, Vietnam during the conflict, and Korea. He was the Senior Instructor at the Jump Training Branch from April 1986 until October 1986. Mr. Jones was a member of the Single Action Shooting Society and the American Legion. He was very proud of his military career. After his military retirement, Mr. Jones owned and operated Palladin Trucking for 25 years. Some of his favorite pastimes included trucking, farming, guns, shooting, working in his yard with his tractor and mowing grass. He also enjoyed taking care of animals, watching movies, and reading westerns.   Mr. Jones especially loved coffee, tomato soup, Harleys, and Hemis. He was a jokester and loved picking on his loved ones. Mr. Jones was a member of Fort Perry Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Travis Jones, a sister, Joyce Shamble and a brother, Melvin “Bro” Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Charlen Jones; five sons, Kevin Wilson, Bobby R. Jones, Jr. (Jessica), Jason Jones, Bryan Cooper, and Hezron Dave Masudiot; by four daughters, Tanesha Clark (Kendell), Ereyka Spring, Rachel Jones, and Briana Cooper; by two brothers, Peter Jones and Larry Jones; one sister, Carolyn Stephenson; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
