Rosemary Russell

Ms. Rosemary Russell, 72, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Magnolia Manor of Marion County in Buena Vista, GA.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 2:00PM with Father Nicholas Mansell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Tazewell Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 4:00pm the night before the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00pm followed by a celebration of life service in the Chapel of Watson-Tante Funeral Home with Rev. Joy Wilson officiating.

Ms. Russell was born September 15, 1945, in Woburn, Massachusetts, to William Ernest and Winifred Rivers Russell. She retired as a teacher from L. K. Moss Elementary School. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Churches, she was a devout Catholic. Ms. Russell obtained a Bachelor’s in Music and played piano and organ for Tazewell United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the Nursing Home Auxiliary and Friends of the Library at Marion County Library. Ms. Russell loved luncheons and shopping with her retired teacher friends. She never missed an opportunity to work with children and inspire a passion for music.

She is survived by two nephews, Chris and Sylvia Russell of Buena Vista, GA, and William and Sharon Russell of Shelbyville, TN; a niece, Tina and Guy Hall of Buena Vista, GA; a sister-in-law, Hilda Brown of Buena Vista, GA; great nieces and nephews, Derek Russell, Dalton Russell, Jeremy Russell, Shannon Shepler, Jared Shepler, Kali Lowthorpe, and Caleb Hall and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
