Sara Ward Tondee

Mrs. Sara Bell Ward Tondee, 80, of Ellaville, passed away on November 13, 2022 after an extended illness.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Ellaville United Methodist Church at 3:00PM with Rev. Thom Davies, Rev. Lowell Layman, and Rev. Anthony Bankhead officiating.  The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and all other times at 129 Bridges St., Ellaville.

Mrs. Tondee was born March 25, 1942 in Sumter County, GA to Lewis Ward and Nellie Herrington Ward.  She was a devoted member of Ellaville United Methodist Church, having served in several capacities over the many years including Secretary, church Historian, a member of the board, past chair of the Pastor-Parish Relations committee, and a member of the church choir.  Mrs. Tondee also volunteered with the Ellaville/Schley County EMS with her late husband Bobby for many years.  She was also an EMS/CPR instructor with the American Heart Association.  Mrs. Tondee was also retired from the Ellaville/Schley County Library after over 30 years of service.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Tondee, a son, Richard Nelson Tondee, and a daughter, Sara Elizabeth Potter.

Survivors include her children, Don Tondee and his wife, Kathy and Judi Tondee Weathersby and her husband, Randy, both of Ellaville; fifteen grandchildren, Steven Tondee (Savannah), Jessica Gonzalez (Lupe), Caitlin Hilderbrandt (Chadwick), Michael Hernandez (Catrina), Karen Weathersby, Marc Weathersby, Richie Weathersby, Terry Eady (Ashley), Bob Tondee, Daniel Tondee, Nia Tondee, Amber Potter (Mark), Robbie Potter, Brian Potter and Don Potter; a sister Dorothy Powell of Ellaville; a son-in-law, Gene Potter of Eastman, GA; and her “little dog” Misty Ann.
