Scotty Spires

MR. SCOTTY EUGENE SPIRES, age 45, of Ellaville, GA, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, GA.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, June 13, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Roswell Chapman and Rev. Will Rayburn officiating, with interment in Hopewell Cemetery in Rhine.

     Mr. Spires was a member of Overflow Worship Center in Ellaville, a 1988 graduate of Dodge County High School and a truck driver for over 20 years, for West Logging and Husqvarna.  He was an accomplished guitarist, bass player and singer.  Scotty enjoyed playing with his band Rampage, The Caylee Anna Band and The Brandon Wheeler Band.  He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, a great cook and enjoyed spending time with his wife and children.  He was preceded in death by his Grandparents – Martha & Pip Hilliard and Ed & Ruby Spires and an Uncle – Willie F. Spires.

     Survivors:  Wife – Wendy McGrother Spires of Ellaville;  Daughter – Jessie Ringer of Rhine;  2 Sons – Wes Spires of Rhine and Trey Ringer of Warner Robins;  Step-Son – J.M. Berry of Ellaville;  Mother & Father – Laverne Hilliard Spires & Herman E. Spires of Rhine;  2 Sisters – Paula Spires of Macon and Alexis Asbell of Chester;  Mother-in-Law & Father-in-Law – Lynn Hyde and John Hyde of Leslie, GA;  Aunts and Uncles – Kaye Brinson Spires, Willaree Hulett (David), Johnnie Rewis (Kenny), Charles E. “Pete” Spires (Wanda), Eddie Spires and J.C. Evans (Betty);  Numerous Cousins and Friends.

     The family may be contacted at the residence of Herman & Laverne Spires, 4770 Fair Haven Church Rd., Rhine, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Friday, June 12.  In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions Overflow Worship Center Youth Ministries, 4412 Old Highway 19 South, Ellaville, GA 31806.
