Tebe "Buddy" Murray Taylor

Mr. Tebe Murray (Buddy) Taylor, Jr., 89, of Americus, GA, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, GA.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Buena Vista First Baptist Church with Dr. John S. Eddinger officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to service time.

Buddy was born October 5, 1928, in Talbot County, GA, to Tebe Murray, Sr. and Elizabeth Goodroe Taylor. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Buena Vista First Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason for over 50 years. After serving in the United States Army in World War II, he returned home and was elected sheriff of Talbot County. He later moved to Buena Vista, where he worked as a poultry serviceman for many years. Before retiring, he was self-employed in the printing business. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Robert and Richard) and three sisters (Jane, Virginia, and Annelle).

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Agnes Taylor of Americus, GA; by two daughters, Janet and Dennis Garrett of Charleston, SC, and Michelle and Jim Vanderloop of Americus, GA; by a son, Sammy and Merry Taylor of Buena Vista, GA; by a sister, Faye Powell of Buena Vista, GA; by grandchildren, Steven Taylor, Amy Powell, Ben Huested, Heather Haymans, and Brittney DeNova; and by one great-grandchild, Joshua Powell.

Honorary pallbearers are Eric Welch, Billy Phelps, Wayne Taylor, Brian Roberts, Steve Taylor, Charles Parker, Kevin Powell, Horace Snider, Buddy Powell, Chris Spann, Bob Watson, Bump Welch, Bill Johnson, and Tom Wimberly.
