Mr. Theron Christopher “Chris” Gattis, 53, of Ellaville, passed away after a brief illness on August 27, 2026, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Ellaville City Cemetery with Rev. Mark Kinservik officiating. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mr. Gattis was born October 25, 1972, in Thomasville, GA to Theron Daniel and Judy Lee Shewmake Gattis. He was a 1991 graduate of Southland Academy and a 1995 graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University. Chris worked in the industrial adhesive industry as the Regional Manager for IFS Adhesives as well as being co-owner of Candy Cane Creations. He was an avid sportsman, especially if it involved hunting, the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs or NASCAR. Chris loved spending time with his family and also coached his son’s recreation baseball team in Sumter County. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Survivors include his son, Theron Alexander Gattis; his parents, Danny and Judy Gattis; his sister, Jenny Frantz and her husband, Adam; and a niece, Hannah Frantz.
