Thomas Steve Mathews

MAUK, GA --- Mr. Thomas Steve Mathews, 77, of Mauk, GA, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at his residence.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Oakland Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Luke Forsyth officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Mr. Mathews was born September 9, 1940, in Marion County, GA, to Charles L. and Thelma Harbuck Mathews. He was a member of Oakland Church of God. He was a logger by trade and enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and working on cars.  He loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Mathews, Jr., Gene Mathews, and Jack Mathews, and one sister, Albena McGrother.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Mathews of Mauk, GA; by two sons, Joseph Alan Miller of AL, and Michael Alan Miller of Mauk, GA; by two daughters, Carol Shepler of TN, and Joann Miller of Butler, GA; two brothers, Robert and Brenda Mathews of Ellaville, GA, and John and Charlotte Mathews of Buena Vista, GA; three sisters, Betty Cook of Buena Vista, GA, Ethel and Dan Arrington of Buena Vista, GA, and Darlene and Toney Greene of Forest Park, GA; and one grandchild, Mackenzie Gardner.
