Thomas E. Morris

Thomas Elkins Morris, 77, of Box Springs, GA, passed away February 11, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 13, 2015, at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Matthew Altman officiating.

Mr. Morris was born December 24, 1937, in Columbus, GA, to Jack Raymond Morris and Edna Holt Holder. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served as an Air Sea Rescue in the Pacific Ocean during 1953-57. Mr. Morris owned Columbus Appliance Repair for many years until his retirement.  He was a member of Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church but had been attending Brown Springs Church of God and thoroughly enjoyed his church and reading the Bible. Mr. Morris loved spending time with his family and was able to see his first great-grandchild born. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Spivey Morris.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Ramona Jones of Callahan, FL; by a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Andrew Farmer of Columbus, GA; by two grandchildren, Jillian and Matthew Altman of Atoka, TN, and Jenna and Nick Paine of London, England; by a great-grandchild, Tristyn Altman; and by a close friend, Clara “Sara” Palmer of Box Springs, GA.
