Virginia Lee Richard

Mrs. Virginia Lee Richard, 74, of Andersonville, GA, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. A memorial service will be held 11:00AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Shema Baptist Church with Bro. Troy Fripp officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM.

Mrs. Richard was born in Norwich, CT, to Bernard and Nettie Schmidl, on June 15, 1951. A hard worker, she worked with Clearwater and Caravelle Boats sewing. Mrs. Richard was a very loving and caring person and enjoyed her family. She loved to sit and read a good book. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Sumner Richard, Sr., and her siblings.

She is survived by her three children, William Richard, Jr. (Faye), Dale Richard (Carmen), and Theresa Richard; by two sisters, Betty Garcia and Della Taylor; by ten grandchildren, Bill Richard, Christin Richard, Tabitha Graham, Allen Richard, Joshua Richard, Dustin Richard, Sidney Wainwright, John Ratliff, Jesse Wilson, and Michael Wilson; by 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Shema Baptist Church.
