Mrs. Virginia Sewell, 76, of Ellaville, GA passed away on March 6, 2022 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at Way-Watson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Mark Kinservik, Rev. Jimmy Sharp and Mr. Sammy Lee officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rix, Cory Rix, Mark Royal, Billy Holloway, Sherman Anthony, and Barry Kinservik. Burial will follow in County Line Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Mrs. Sewell was born June 1, 1945 in Americus, GA to J.R. Dobbs and Earline Holloway Dobbs. She joined County Line United Methodist Church at the age of 9 years. Mrs. Sewell was very active with the church, having held the office of Treasurer, Treasurer of the Building Fund, a member of Ladies H.O.P.E. Circle. She was a 1963 graduate of Ellaville High School then went on the graduate in 1964 from South Georgia Vocational School in cosmetology. Mrs. Sewell began her career at Magnolia Manor in 1964 where she held many positions over the years, from Hairdresser to Switchboard Operator and then Service Coordinator for the Independent Residents when she retired in 2012. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lee Sewell. They were married September 28, 1969 and were married for 44 years and 8 months before his passing on May 23, 2014, leaving her heartbroken and lonely.
Survivors include her daughters, Regina Hunnewell and her husband, Todd of Brunswick, GA, Michelle Miller and her husband, Mark of Edison, GA, and Marcia McClung of Ellaville, GA; four grandchildren, Tyler Hunnewell, Jacob Miller, Zeke Miller, and Josh McClung (Debbie); two great-grandchildren, Hunter McClung and Rylee McClung; two adopted grandchildren, Cory Rix and Rene Rix; and a special friend, Towanda Anthony.
In lieu of flowers, she requested memorial contributions be made to County Line United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6374 Englishville Rd., Andersonville, GA 31711 or to Phoebe-Sumter Hospice, 126 US Hwy 280 W, Americus, GA 31719.
