Warren Newton Battle

     ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Warren Newton Battle, age 89, of Ft. Myers Beach, FL died Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 30, 2016 in the Ellaville Cemetery.  Rev. Joel Smith will officiate.  

     Mr. Battle was born October 3, 1926 in Schley County, GA, the son of C. T. Battle and Susan Battle.  He was a farmer and had been manager for A. Duda & Sons farming and cattle operations his entire career of 41 years.  He started with the company planting celery and ended up as one of the first non Duda family member as Vice President of Muck Farms.  Mr. Battle had served in the Navy as an Aviation Radioman and studied Aviation Radar and Aerial Gunnery.  He joined the ROTC program and graduated from University of North Georgia in Dahlonega at a young age.  Mr. Battle was active in the Belle Glade FL community with Future Farmers of America and the Masons.  Mr. Battle was an excellent fisherman and loved to hunt deer, turkeys, quail and dove. He was a member of Fort Myers Beach Baptist Church. 

     Mr. Battle is survived by his wife, Estelle Driver Battle; two daughters, Cathy Cunningham of Winter Springs, FL, Celia Elrod (Joel) of Wellington, FL; one son, Warren Battle, Jr. “Hap” (Toni Burnell) of Geneva, FL; and one brother, C. T. Battle, Jr. (Hilda) of Snellville, GA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Joel Elrod, Jr., Hollie Elrod Schwartz (Rob), Ashleigh Jarrett, Mallorie Cunningham Campbell (Mike) and one great grandchild Jill Elrod.  Mr. Battle was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Craig Battle.  

     A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
