Mr. John Lewis Lightner, 76, of Ellaville passed away at his residence on March 29, 2021.  A celebration of life service will be held at the family pond on GA Hwy 26 W across from Stevens Rd, Ellaville, GA 31806 on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 10:00AM with Rev. Raymond Smith officiating. 

Mr. Lightner was born February 8, 1945 in Schley County, GA to Willie Austin and Wilmoth Tondee Lightner. He loved spending time with his family and being outdoors hunting and fishing and working with his animals.  Mr. Lightner also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Snider, a brother, Lawrence Lightner and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Emily Roberts.

Survivors include his loving wife, June Roberts Lightner of Ellaville, GA; a daughter, Dina Howard and her husband, Mike of Ellaville, GA; a son-in-law, William Snider of Harker Heights, TX; two grandchildren, Zack Snider and Emily McCorkle; a brother, Billy Lightner and his wife, Alice of Ellaville, GA; three sisters, Betty Barwick of Buena Vista, GA, Angie McMickle of Ellaville, GA and Mary Nan Pilcher and her husband, Sammy of Ellaville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Lewis and I were first grade classmates. A class of only 20! Lewis was a fine man and we are going to miss him so very much.
