Mattie Jane Turner

Ms. Mattie Jane Turner, 78, of Ellaville, passed away on December 4, 2020 at her residence. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, Georgia with Rev. Joel Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 4:00-6:00 PM. Due to COVID-19 concerns, it is requested that masks be worn during the visitation and social distancing guidelines be followed.
   Ms. Turner was born August 12, 1942 in Americus, Georgia. She had been a devoted member of Ellaville Baptist Church since 1965 and was a member of the Joy Club. Ms. Turner was a loving and strong woman, who will be missed dearly by her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Dowdey and a brother-in-law, Donnie Berry.
   Survivors include her children, Linda Brooks and her husband, Charles of Hiram, GA and Gary Turner and his wife, Brenda of Sumter County, GA; two brothers, Thomas Ward and his wife Cindy of Cumming, GA and Jimmy Ward and his wife, Debbie of Americus, GA; a sister, Margie Berry of Americus, GA; four grandchildren, Felicia Underwood (Jeremy), Brandon Turner, Alyssa Turner (Dustin), and Gary N. Turner; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Marsha, June, Janice, Rudy, Don, Brian, Jason, Kippy, Tara, Mike and Brad; several great-nieces and nephews and her former spouse, Ronnie Turner.
